- London councils estimate 165,000 homeless Londoners live in TA
- Almost 70% of London’s homeless households in TA have at least one child (42,290 households) amounting to 86,450 children
- London faces the most severe homelessness pressures in the country, accounting for 2/3 of England’s total TA numbers (96,600 households)
- Londoners are ten times more likely to be living in TA than residents of anywhere else in England
- London has more than double the number of children in TA {86,450} than the rest of England’s Local Authorities combined {37,480}
- During Covid-19 there was a moratorium on evictions. Since this ended, we estimate at least 1,000 new families a month join the statutorily homeless
- An estimated 125,000 lower-income Londoners are now at risk of homelessness because their benefit entitlement falls short of meeting their rent
